Bollywood (India movie industry) and Nollywood have concluded plans to host a joint film festival for both movie industries to commemorate the 60th and 50th independence anniversaries of both countries respectively.
The festival, which is scheduled to take place in Nigeria by January 2010, is expected to serve as a vehicle for strengthening the cultural and economic ties that have existed between the two countries over the years.
Bollywood & Nollywood have recently been ranked the first and second largest movie industries respectively. India serving a large population of over 1.1 billion citizens, and Nigeria, 140 million.
Prof. Dora Akunyili, the Minister of Information and Communication commended the effort of the Indian government in making this historic event possible, and observed that the two countries have had a long-standing cordial economic and cultural relationship.
