BEANIE SIGEL VS JAY-Z

Beanie Sigel - I aint your average cat(Jay-z Diss)

Exclusive Beanie Sigel Interview with Charlemagne

Jay-z responds to Beanie Sigel

SO BEANIE SIGEL JUST RELEASED A RECORD ADDRESSING HIS CURRENT SITUATION AND RELATIONSHIP WITH JAY-Z. BEANS SEEMS VERY HURT AND HE GOES IN DEEP LIKE HE USUALLY DOES AND SHEDS LIGHT ON THE SITUATION. ACCORDING BEANS HE SAYS THE RECORD IS NOT A DISS RECORD, HE SAYS HE'S JUST VENTING ABOUT THE ROCAFELLA SITUATION AND HOW HE WAS TREATED GIVING HOW LOYAL HE WAS TO JAY-Z, DAME DASH AND THE RECORD LABEL. AT THE END OF THE DAY LOVE IS LOVE, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, I FEEL LIKE BEANIE EXPECTED JAY-Z TO TAKE CARE OF HIM BUSINESS WISE BECAUSE OF THE LOVE THEY SHARED. I GUESS THE REAL QUESTION IS DID JAY-Z REALLY LOVE AND CARE ABOUT HIM THAT WAY. OR WAS IT ALWAYS BUSINESS FROM THE BEGINNING. SOMETIMES AS HUMAN BEINGS WE SAY THINGS WE DON'T MEAN DEPENDING ON OUR SITUATION AND ALSO HOW IT BENEFITS US. LISTEN TO BEANIE'S NEW SONG AND INTERVIEW WITH CHARLEMAGNE TO HEAR HIS FULL STORY. ALSO I ADDED A CLIP OF JAY-Z RESPONDING TO BEANIE'S RECENT SONG AND CLAIMS DURING HIS PROMO TOUR IN MONTREAL. JAY-Z ACTUALLY DEFENDED HIMSELF BUT NEVER WENT IN TOO DEEP, HE JUST SIMPLY SAYS HE DID ALOT FOR BEANIE SIGEL, SO REALLY WHO KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. PLS LEAVE YOUR COMMENTS.

Project Bluefoot x Air Jordan Design Competition - John Lee

After a few months of reviewing and critiquing, the Project Bluefoot Air Jordan Design Competition has finally come to an end! Judges Jason Mayden (Jordan Brand Senior Designer) and D’Wayne Edwards (Jordan Brand Design Director) lent their opinion and remarks for this design competition and both stated that they were extremely impressed.

''Overall no one called out specifics in regards to weight and construction. There were a lot of mentions of “lightweight” and “considered” but no one called out a specific weight target nor did they call out specific considered principles. All this info is available online. We felt overall that most of the entrants said what they felt was “designer-esque” versus truly connecting an insight to an innovation. It’s great to have “cool” stories that can be referenced for footwear details but it’s more important that each insight solve a specific problem. It felt as if they were all anxious to do the sketching and the rendering. We would have liked to seen images of worn out shoes, self guided product testing theories, models/mockups and examples of what they were trying to do. No one said that they had to just draw. Its time to think outside of the “sketch” build models, tape up existing shoes, cut up shoes and take video/still images of the problem you are trying to solve. Then document the testing of your hypothesis. Design is a process, not a series of veneered sketches.

BUT, with that being said, the level of talent was phenomenal. They all just need more guidance and proper design education. Anyone who believes that they can “draw a hot shoe” and then BOOM get a career, not a job as a serious designer without some form of formal education is mistaken. College, college, college''

SINGER OMARION COMMENTS ON MUSIC INDUSTRY'S DARK SIDE

So Omarion spoke to the folks over at Boombox about the devilish controversy going on in the industry right now. If you recall, singer Tiffany Evans put Rihanna on blast about joining in the dark and devil worshiping behavior (after hearing Rihanna’s new song “Russian Roulette”) that is well known to happen in the industry. Now Omarion is chiming in about how real that dark side and celebrity involvement:

“I don’t personally know Rihanna’s beliefs but I think there’s a very dark and very sinister part of the entertainment business and I think it’s very visible,” he said. “This is something that a lot of people don’t look at [but for example] Michael Jackson used to be a Jehovah’s Witness and I remember hearing that he wanted to separate from the religion — and this was during the time that he was doing ‘Thriller’ [which ended up being] his biggest album.”

“Fast forward to now,” Omarion continued, “[and] it really made me think that there is a [time as an artist] where there’s going to be a choice. The[entertainment] world [dictates] that you have to be with three or four women, or do this in order to get that [and] I think it’s really interesting. With God and the industry, it’s really dark. The dark side is having to get in, there’s a certain submission you need to have. Just like a gang [initiation], so to speak. You might have to do something against your moral code. I’m not saying that it’s always this way, but when you’re someone that is young and you’re coming up in the industry and you really don’t have a grip on your morals it can be very dark. The game is just about over saturation.

“I don’t know if Rihanna [has fallen victim to those pressures]. I’ve never really heard her speak about it,” he said. “I hope that she doesn’t believe in that stuff and I don’t think that she does, but I don’t know. It’s not just been a Rihanna thing, [there's has been religious speculation] about a lot of artists.”

NIGERIA IS NOT THE HOME OF CYBER CRIME

A 2008 report by the Internet Crime Complaint Center, which is a partnership between the FBI and America's National White Collar Crime Center, revealed the top 10 countries of cyber crime perpetrators. They are

  1. United States of America (66%)
  2. United Kingdom (10%)
  3. Nigeria (7%)
  4. Canada (3%)
  5. China (1%)
  6. South Africa (1%)
  7. Ghana (1%)
  8. Spain (1%)
  9. Italy (.5%)
  10. Romania (.5%)
Now, it is rather eye opening that Nigeria came in third at 7% but the average individual, almost anywhere in the world, would assume that Nigeria would be the key location for cyber crime perpetrators. It is also interesting that the USA came in first with 66%. Being that it has a clear majority on cyber crime, why is there even a category designated to Nigeria on the FBI's list of internet scams called Nigerian letter scams?

This disconnect between the reality of cyber crime and the misconceived perceptions of cyber crime highlight the need for more positive P.R. for Nigeria. The country's federal government is in one of the best positions to highlight and challenge such misconceptions. Hopefully, it will do so, or at least take full advantage of some of the recommendations here and elsewhere so as to allow others to do this for the country.

Nonetheless, this new report is not an excuse for Nigerian authorities to slack on finding and punishing those who commit cyber crime and all crime, in general, the percentage of cyber crime perpetrators should go down.

via nigeriancuriosity.com

These stats don't surprise me, it's all about stereotypes and perception. People just hear things, they don't do any research for themselves and they decide to put a stigma on you because of your place of origin. It's a four letter word called life I guess.

Jay-Z Talks World Series, DJ Hero and Fela Kuti

SEX WITH DIDDY

Diddy recently sat down with Elle Magazine for a pretty deep interview. They discuss his first time (having sex), his feelings on marriage and what type of man he is in relationships. Peep it:

Were you a sexually precocious kid?
SEAN COMBS: I was in pursuit of female attention from when I was probably four or five. It started with my mother’s friends putting me to sleep on their laps. But I wasn’t really asleep; I was enjoying the way it felt to lay on a pair of beautiful breasts.

And how did your first time go?
SC: Great, but I’d had a lot of practice from watching this show on cable called Midnight Blue, where they had actual scenes from pornos. Me and Midnight Blue had a Thursday night at one o’clock date—I’d make sure my mother was asleep, take a shower, lock the door, put on cologne.

Wasn’t there an awful lot of talking from Midnight Blue host Al Goldstein?
SC: Yeah, he definitely talked a lot. And he interrupted. But it taught me mind control.

Your dad was shot to death when you were only three. Who taught you how to behave with women?
SC: A couple years ago, my psychologist came to the conclusion that this is one of the big problems I have as far as maturing in a relationship. After my father got killed, my mother said, “I’m never getting married again. I don’t want men around my children.” So I’ve never actually been able to witness a husband and wife’s love. Sometimes when I see it with my friends, I just find myself staring like a child, because I’ve never actually seen it before. It’s one of the sad parts of my life.

So what kind of behavior does this bring out in relationships?
SC: When a relationship gets to a certain point, I probably get scared and become a little self-destructive.

By self-destructive, do you mean going out with other women?
SC: Yeah.

If you get caught cheating red-handed, what’s the best response?
SC: Cry. It might not work, but it at least shows that you care. Goddamn, this is a deep interview. You didn’t ask Will Smith none of this shit!

But we’re making such valuable progress! Just tell me: Are the tears real?
SC: Yeah, it hurts me. One of my weaknesses is that I actually have a conscience.

Ask Ms. Uduak: How do I Network in the Music Industry?

“Good morning ma’am, I have started the legal work on my record label, and am just independent for now but am sure I can’t do it all by myself….what I am concerned about is the aspect of networking. I have got a daytime job and I have been thinking how I can get to liase with a few businesses . . . can you help with tips on how to achieve this? ~Regards, Gbenga EW”

“Hi, [I] am an aspiring hip hop producer. I have been doing some work for quite sometime now and I am having difficulties with getting my talent across. I mean it is difficult to make it as a producer without some form of a reputation in the Nigerian Music Industry. Thus my question is how do I expose myself to the industry as a music producer? ~ Haruna D. aka Phatbouy.”

Gbenga and Haruna, you both essentially ask similar questions focused on networking so you can both be successful. Haruna you are right. It is very hard to make it in the music industry (biz), especially if you don’t have the right contacts or reputation. “Wetin man go do if ya papa no be record label owner?” Here we go with some few tips:

Know where to go to find your contacts: In the past, it would have been nearly impossible to get access to the music “shot callers,” much less “yarn” with them. Thankfully in 2009, with the advent of social media like Facebook which has over 200 million users, we can do just that. Facebook is an absolutely FANTASTIC way to get and stay connected to Naija’s music industry decision makers. Here is how to use a tool like Facebook to your benefit:

  • Join several Naija music focused groups. On Facebook, for example, you can join Nigerian Music Industry Associations, DJs, and radio station groups and fan pages. These groups, for the most part, allow you to share your work and interact with your peers. Take advantage of them!
  • Attend the Networking Events your Facebook groups invite you to: The beauty about joining Facebook Naija music groups is that you will receive invitations to music industry events. Attend these events and be prepared to network. Have your business cards ready. Be friendly and approachable, practice and be clear on what you want to say and how you want to project yourself.
  • Attend your Facebook Friends’ Music Events: If you have not been invited to any music events, look to see which events your music friends on Facebook have been invited to. Ask your friends to allow you tag along, attend the event(s) and get to networking
  • Volunteer: Independent of Facebook, on the ground, Naija these days has so many music events. Many of these events are organized by producers and organizers who could use lots of help. Knock on their doors and find out how you can help. In doing so, you will most likely get a chance to meet some of the industry’s decision makers. Even if you don’t meet them, you get a chance to witness the industry from the inside out, an insight that will be extremely helpful down the line as you network and build your contacts.

Focus on Building Relationships: Be careful not to be all about trying to get to the top you forget the whole point of networking. Networking is about building relationships. Form genuine interest in the personalities you meet and their work. It will go a long way and open a lot more doors than you can imagine.

Know your value: Never underestimate your value. While the business is very much about who you know and who knows you, another important aspect of the music biz is what YOU bring to the table. As part of networking, never underestimate your value. Know your worth. If you are a strong producer, any label or artist that works with you will benefit greatly because your beats coupled with their skills will help put them in the spotlight. Without being arrogant, understand this added value that you bring to the table when you network and ultimately negotiate with industry decisionmakers.

Follow up: You met great people at the music events you attended. Now, follow up. I recommend sending a personal handwritten note or thank you card if, for example, you were introduced to a contact that helped you in a significant way. If it will take days for your recipient to get it, then send an electronic thank you card. Most people don’t think to do basic things like that anymore, so you are sure to stand out.

Finally, to you both, there is a saying to “build and they will come.” There is no excuse not to use FREE social media to get the word out about your work. Set up your Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Blogger accounts. Upload your work and let everyone know what you are doing, stay consistent, build and the people will come. As you build, be sure to reach out to Bloggers and the Media, particularly Nigerian influential music blogger/media related sites like Not Just Ok. Once one picks it up, the rest usually follow and it creates a viral effect that has many talking about you and your work!

    Now go make it happen!

EDDIE MURPHY'S ESTATE ''BUBBLE HILL''

The 32-room house is on a four acre knoll in the Englewood's East Hill section. The gated and walled, mansion is around 25,000 square feet and includes large entertaining areas. While much of the home has been smoothed out and beiged-up to appeal to the masses one thing still survives, the wood-paneled billiard room with the red curtains, jukebox and the neon signs spelling out "Bubble Hill." This home was at $30 million five years ago making it the most expensive single-family home in the state at the time. At its current price of $14.99 million, it's no longer even the most expensive home in Englewood.
