INTERNATIONAL CELEBRITIES WITH NIGERIAN HERITAGE


Sophie Okonedo is a british born actress born to a Nigerian Father and Jewish Mother. She was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her role as Tatiana Rusesabagina in Hotel Rwanda and nominated for a Golden Globe for a Lead Actress in a Miniseries for her work in Tsunami: The Aftermath. Some of her famous works include Young Soul Rebels (1991), Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995), The Jackal (1997), Dirty Pretty Things (2002), Æon Flux (2005)Oliver Twist (2007),The Secret Life of Bees(2008) and Coming soon Father & Son (TV Series) (2009) and Mrs. Mandela (2009).


Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, this British born actor with Nigerian parents has definitely been a force to be reckoned with in hollywood for several years. He's list of movies include Ace Ventura:When nature calls, the Mummy Returns, Congo, The Bourne Identity, Kidnapped, and Get rich or die trying just to name a few.


Chiwetel Ejiofor is a British born actor of Nigerian Heritage. He was awarded the Jack Tinker Award for Most Promising Newcomer at the 2000 London Critics Circle Theatre Awards (Drama) for his performance in Blue/Orange performed at the Royal National Theatre: Lyttelton and later at the Duchess Theatre. He's been in several great movies including, American Gangster, Inside man, Amistad, 4 Brothers, and Talk to Me, just to name a few.......


Carmen Ejogi, the beautiful half Nigeria/ half Scottish actress has lighting up the screen with her sexy British accent and her great acting skills. She's been in movies like Metro, Whats the worst that could happen, Kidnapped, lackawanna blues and much more.

Osi Umenyiora is a Defensive end for New York Giants who was born in Britain to Nigerian parents. He's also an NFL Super Bowl Champion and a earned 3 Pro Bowl Selections.


Nigeria-German singer Ayọ , is among nine music artists chosen for Banana Republic City Stories campaign. Ayọ learned to play the violin at the age of six and she wrote her first song at 15. Her debut album, Joyful has already reached multi-platinum status in Europe.


Wale whose full name is Olubowale Victor Folarin was born to Nigerian parents in Washington, D.C. He grew up in Northwest D.C. and rose to prominence in 2006, when his song "Dig Dug (Shake It)" became popular in Washington, D.C. area. Since then Wale has released five widely recognized mixtapes including 2005: Paint A Picture, 2006: Hate is the New Love, 2007: 100 Miles & Running, 2008: The Mixtape About Nothing 2009: Back to the Feature. His first full length album, Attention: Deficit is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2009 via Allido/Interscope/RocNation.
