NIGERIAN HIT MAKER DON JAZZY

Don Jazzy is one of Nigeria’s heavyweight music producers but life wasn’t always such a dream for him. Read on to find out his history.

The President of Mo’Hits Records, Don Jazzy, wasn’t born into a family of wealth and his education suffered as a result.

Don grew up in Ajegunle, also known as AJ City, worshiping at Cherubim and Seraphim Church. He schooled in AJ City and after secondary school he read a degree at Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State. Unfortunately he had to drop out of University due to financial difficulties.

After leaving University Don Jazzy had to help make ends meet for his family. “I had to sell akara (bean cake) for my Mum in AJ City and become a bus conductor to feed the family, ” said Don.

A few years later the now most sought after producer left Nigeria for London not for educational reasons but something completely different. His Uncle asked him to come to London to play instrumentals for a Church which he did and spent some time in London, never once thinking of returning to his homeland.

This was until he met D’Banj who persuaded him to return to Nigeria and the rest is history! His talents and drive led him to become the powerforce he is today producing stars such as D’Banj, Wande Coal and many more.
