First Date Rules: Too Much To Soon

So you made a resolution this year to crawl off your couch and make the bold moves necessary to give your potential Mr. Right all the clues that you're into him. It's no secret that men can sometimes be a bit oblivious but there is also a fine line in giving a brother too much to think about too soon. To help you balance this fine line here are 5 tips on where to exercise some restrain:1. The first date dress: This dress is crucial to your first impression. Start by removing all your "freak'em" dresses and put them in the "definitely not" pile. Now you're left to choose between your cocktail dresses and your "meet the parents" dresses. Either of these options with the right accessories can work and send an appropriate message of someone whose looking for long term. Oh and remember I nice pair of heels are your friend. 2. No Thanks: Yes, you have a successful job and your affairs are in order, you're an independent woman, blah, blah. When it comes to getting to know someone however, it's best to remember to leave the armor at home, this is not a hostile take over. What I mean here is if your date offers to open your door accept it the offer and say thank you. And if you don't want him to fill obligated to always treat you this way then share the responsibility, lean over to open his car door after he's opened yours.3. Your fantasies: No matter how much you believe we've entered a new age where men and women can freely discuss any topic without consequence, think again. Sharing sexual fantasies on the first date assures that A. you'll be getting a call back and B. He's expecting to see these fantasies come to life with him very soon. Don't make things harder for yourself when you want to discuss a more serious topic or God-forbid when you want to say "no". Keep the fantasies for a later date. At least after you've crossed him off your crazy list.4. Drinking habits: Limit yourself to one drink or none at all. This is not about hiding the real you it's about getting to know someone at your very best. Alcohol impairs your judgment and will limit your ability to ask the right questions, to listen and make a lasting impression. Besides while he may freely keep the drinks coming his respect for you continues to diminish and you can just throw the femininity card out the window!5. Invite him up: It was the best date you've had in years and you just don't want it to end! Stop and ask yourself what you hope to gain from this first date, 50 more or 1 more? If you answered the former, give him a peck on the check and keep it moving. And don't spend another 4 hours talking on the phone until 5am! Leave him wanting and if he's worth your time he will return!
