International Nigerian Soccer Star Kanu Nwankwo will retire from the game of Soccer after the 2010 World Cup

International football star Nwankwo Kanu, who has had an illustrious career with the Super Eagles and such clubs as Ajax, Inter-Milan, Arsenal to name a few, has announced he'll be retiring from international duties after the World Cup in South Africa. He made the following statements after the cliff hanger World Cup qualification match against Kenya.

"Kenya have a very good team, they played well but we are happy to win. Despite the pressure, we knew we could do it. It was just was a matter of time. Now we have a chance to go to World Cup and do well. Our chances are good."

"I will quit after this World Cup. I cannot play when I am 50. I have reached the heights and my aim is to go to World Cup. I thank God that finally after all the fight, all the struggle, all the hard work, we are there."

Just Friends or Just Denial

You know that book of codes, which has so many unwritten rules of conduct ( like guys code of "bros before hoes" or girls codes of "never dating a friend's ex")? Well in that unknown book, its been established that members of the opposite sex can't just "be friends". Even movies propagate this misconception. Take for instance, the movie "Brown Sugar" - first friends, girl likes guy, guy likes girl, guy gets married, guy gets divorced and eventually guy gets with girl and a whole lot in between, but I wont get to that; you all get the idea. This cements the whole idea even more.

Ok how about I make it more personal. Lets say, there have been 2 friends, Sade and Emeka, who have known each other for a little bit and yes, they did have feelings for each other but it was never explored. Regardless, Sade somehow manages to compare every guy she meets to Emeka as he becomes "her standard". As expected with time, Sade wants more but Emeka doesn't and the feelings did get in the way of the relationship to the point of them not talking at all for a few months.

Now hit the forward button, Emeka calls and they reconnect and the FRIENDSHIP (nothing else) springs back up. More importantly, this time, they make it clear that they are just friends with "minute" benefits and nothing more and both agree. People around them say that they get this uncomfortable vibe (or "sexual tension") between them. Emeka and Sade don't deny that but they claim to take it in stride and say it is all just in fun. So the question is, can two people of the opposite sex just be friends, or would one day have these feelings take over? And do you think this "agreement" between Emeka and Sade will work?

The Moto Development Group, designers of gadgets like the Zune HD and Pure Digital Flip video camcorder, has delivered an interactive Blackjack table. The impressive table is on display at the Global Gaming Expo, and is based on Moto’s own multitouch tabletop technology. The interactive table prototype recognizes hand gestures to recreate the real casino-style Blackjack game experience on a touchscreen tabletop. The table is a round display which is used to deal out the decks of virtual cards by sliding it across the face with hand gestures. In the ongoing game the players by placing the hand on the dealt out cards can see what they have and simultaneously hide them from the other players by removing the hand, which would put the cards in the face-down position again. Besides BlackJack the interactive table can also be used for Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. The casinos may just need something like the table to entice the gamers, while it’ll be a task for us to wait and see who takes the prototype up for commercialization.
